Learn to Love the Skin You’re In

IT’S FEBRUARY!!!

You know that means it is the month of LOVE! – and what better way to show some love than to the largest organ you have; YOUR SKIN. Everyone has the desire to have clear and healthy skin but not many want to take the time out to do what it takes to get it. Now before you start rolling your eyes at me and giving me the deep sighs, just listen.

There are TWO things you need to make certain your skin is healthy – an amazing esthetician and a great at home skin care regimen. That’s it – nothing more but definitely nothing less. Between your daily at home regimen and monthly visits with a professional, your results will be truly amazing. GREAT SKIN IS AN INVESTMENT! Let me break down the ‘Why’:

Everyday we go out into the elements and gather debris in our pores – EVERYDAY! With that clogging of pores, you are more prone to breakouts. Now, do understand, the breakouts will not happen immediately but if you do not clean that debris out of your pores, you will eventually get breakouts from it. Here is where your at home care comes in. Every night, you should wash, tone and hydrate at the MINIMUM. A great deep cleansing facial cleanser will get all the debris out of your pores that you collected throughout the day and give your skin that fresh start it needs for the next day; which in turn prevents the breakouts I was speaking of prior. Follow up with a toner which will prep your skin for the treatment (serums) and moisturizer and PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO HYDRATE the skin. Weekly treatment masks and scrubs are always an added plus and can aid in amazing results.

Professional treatments, at least once a month, will keep your skin in the best shape it can be. If you suffer from severe acne, blackheads or just need an extra boost for that glow in your skin, find yourself a great esthetician and thank me later. They will look further than the eye can see and extract anything that is causing issues. The expertise they offer as well as the level of treatments is the icing on the cake to a great at home system.

Whether you ‘don’t really have skin issues’ or have severe skin issues, take heed to these two main keys and start LOVING THE SKIN YOU’RE IN!

Do’s + Don’ts of Summer Skin

Summer has just begun and we know it’s going to be nothing but longs days and fabulous nights. Fun in the sun for the next 3 months and my third favorite time of the year (Fall is #1 and Spring is #2 – but enough about me)!! In the midst of it all, we must keep in mind that extreme climate changes can take a toll on our largest organ – our skin.

So when it comes to Summer Skin Care, there are a lot of great things (and not so great things) you can do. Let’s go over a few of them!

How to Choose a Skin Care Regimen

Here is your mission – if you choose to accept it – choose the correct skin care regimen for YOUR skin.  How do you go about doing that, you ask? Well, it’s rather simple once you determine a few factors about your skin.  The first thing every person looking for the proper skin care regimen does is ask friends for advice – or what they use – not factoring in that their friend probably do not share the same skin type and/or issues, so they cannot share the exact same skin care regimen.  Not saying your friend’s regimen may not work for you; depending on the products they use, it could deliver some results but may not be the ultimate results you’re looking for.  Enough about your friends, let’s get back to you.  Here is how you choose the perfect skin care regimen for YOU (in five easy steps)

I’m Simply Sebaceous – HELP!!!! (Shine Control)

“My skin is oily, ALL THE TIME. I’ve tried so many things and I cannot get my skin to stop being so darn oily!!”

If I have heard the above statement once, I’ve heard it a billion times. So many of my customers have oily skin (but Combination is my number 1) and all they want is to NOT have oily skin. Now, I love oily skin because believe it or not, it keeps us looking younger, longer. How? Well, revert back to my last post on anti-aging and you will see that hydrated skin is youthful skin. Oil production in the skin is just our body’s way of keeping the skin hydrated. Oil production should be a blessing, not a nuisance. Moderate oil production is normal – severe oil production is not. Here is where you need to evaluate what you are doing, or not doing, to cause your skin to produce so much oil.
